WHAT IS A DRONE ROOF SURVEY?
A drone roof survey uses UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) technology to inspect roofs and high-level building features remotely. Our drones are equipped with 4K cameras and flown by qualified surveyors & pilots, allowing us to capture precise imagery and video of:
-
Pitched and flat roofs
-
Valleys, gutters, leadwork, and parapets
-
Chimneys, flues, and skylights
-
Roofline details such as fascias, soffits, and verge tiles.
This method is ideal for buildings that are difficult or unsafe to access using traditional methods.
It’s no secret that a functioning roof is crucial for any building, irrespective of its purpose. However, given the role of these systems, exposure to the elements can soon begin to take its toll and compromise the roof’s structural integrity. A roof survey is the best way to inspect the installation and determine the extent of wear.
TRADITIONAL ROOF INSPECTIONS

In cases where a drone isn’t appropriate, such as terraced homes, conservation areas, or where a physical inspection is required, we offer traditional roof inspections. This may include:
-
Internal loft access
-
High-level ladder access or scaffold
-
Use of borescope and thermal cameras or moisture meters (where damp or timber issues are suspected)
Every inspection is conducted by a Building Surveyor, giving you peace of mind and independent expert insight.

SPRAY FOAM INVESTIGATIONS
Spray foam insulation has been used as a roof insulator for many years however, recent times have seen the rise in debates concerning its efficiency and the possible issues it could be exacerbating, such as damp, timber decay and rot. Assessing the spray foam condition and defects it may have caused requires technical expertise that few hold. Fortunately, AMS SURVEYS are an exception.
In addition to checking the condition of the insulation itself, we’ll work to understand if the foam could be contributing to any issues within the roof and property. Based on our findings, we’ll deliver an extensive report that your specialist surveyor will help you understand before you make your next move.
